SUNDAY SEVEN 03.14.2021

There’s nothing I love more than redecorating the house for the spring/summer season. Truly - I enjoy it 10x more than decorating for Christmas. Sue me! Something about fresh greenery, flowers, all the light and bright colors, crisp white bedding, natural wood tones…I mean come on! Nothing better than a little refresh after the doom and gloom of grey Oregon winters. Today also marks the beginning of daylight savings time which…to be honest I’ll never understand. *time is a social construct* LOL but, hey, not complaining because that means the sun will now be setting past 7pm and to say I’m excited would be a gross understatement!

One of my favorite ways to freshen up the house whenever I’m redecorating or rearranging is to focus on all of my little “centerpieces” throughout our space first. I’ve got two coffee tables, a dining table, and a kitchen island all with focal points on them. I love to use low bowls, oversized vases, and trays to layer up a mini vignette for each spot. Having a good variety of decorative objects on hand is an awesome way to switch things up - bonus points if the bowl can actually be used for food prep as well! I like to find neutral pieces that not only work in any room of the house, but also grow with me and my ever changing design taste. Nothing too style-specific here! Varying wood tones, stone materials, and unique shapes/sizes are the way to go. Fill them with real fruit or faux lemon vase filler for a springy moment! I also like to use wood beads, moss balls, jute accents, and other textural vase fillers to add interest. We keep a small bowl on our console table by the front door as well - perfect to throw our keys and sunglasses in when we walk in the door that doesn’t take away from the decor.

For this week’s Sunday Seven, I’ve rounded up some of my current favorite and affordable decorative bowls!

This Week’s Sunday Seven

// 1. Crate & Barrel Feast Hammered Iron Serving Bowl -- $39
Love that this one is super oversized and it is food safe. I’m envisioning the yummiest spring salad in there! The hammered texture makes this one interesting enough to just stand on it’s own in the center of your dining table, too.

// 2. Target Decorative Paulownia Wood Bowl -- $25
I currently have this bowl on Kyle’s nightstand with some moss balls in it. Honestly it’s a great size and quality for the price, too! I love the neutral color and the chunky shape. It would work well in a variety of spaces!

// 3. Target Wood Whitewashed Serving Bowl -- $20
Slightly more refined than the previous wood bowl, this one has a nice smooth texture and more of a classic shape. Would make the perfect kitchen island fruit bowl!

// 4. Crate & Barrel Flint Grey Marble Bowl -- $49
This one has been on my wish list for a little over a year now! I just love that squared off shape and the different material/coloring. It’s easy to keep adding a bunch of white and wood decor, but this one is the perfect unique neutral! Throw in some oversized wood balls for the ultimate mix of textures.

// 5. Target Ceramic Bowl Ivory -- $25
Love how low this one is - it would be the perfect bowl for a console or coffee table layered on top of some large books. If you like the look of this one but also want to be able to cook with it, this Marin bowl is super similar but slightly larger and oven safe to 300 degrees which is a plus!

// 6. Crate & Barrel Melita Monkey Pod Wood Bowl -- $79
There are tons of wood bowls out there but I love the handmade nature of this one. This bowl is made from a single piece of albizia wood and kilned dried for 3 weeks - each one is unique! Fill it with some gorgeous linens and an oversized air plant for your dining table centerpiece.

// 7. Target Salad Serving Bowl Large Black -- $21
I pretty much forced my mom to buy this for her built in shelves LOL sure, it’s a salad bowl. But it’s the perfect chunky shape for an accent piece and tall enough to live empty if you just wanted to layer it over some books and call it good. I love the black wood - feels like a fresh take on all of the natural/bleached wood options out there right now and will last through the seasons!

BRB off to refresh the house for spring - it’s finally happening!! Happy Sunday!

xoxo,
KZ
