If you live in the PNW, you certainly stay for the gorgeous spring/summers but the fall/winters can just drag for what feels like ages! Sure, we don’t get the extreme cold temps and crazy inches of snow for months but what we do get is all.of.the.rain. And the grey. And the blah. For months and months and months. While I love me some crisp fall weather and the occasional storm…come November I’m beyond over it all and just shut myself away until the sun makes its appearance again in April. Sometimes in March if we’re lucky!
We were actually spoiled with quite the beautiful weather last weekend. I was - along with pretty much every other Oregonian - shamelessly in our backyard in shorts and a tank trying to soak up months of lost vitamin D in the surprise three hours of 55 degree non-cloudy weather on Sunday. It was good for the soul! I can tell spring is coming soon - the days are getting longer and we’ve had fewer wash outs the last two weeks so I’m getting very excited to bust out the warm weather clothes!
With that said, I’ve also been paying attention to some trends that will be popular this coming sunny season. One of my favorites - square toe sandals! I’m seeing these everywhere from luxury brands down to Target! The past two years were all about slides in lieu of flip flops and those are still going strong. An updated toe shape makes them even cooler! For this week’s Sunday Seven, I’m rounding up my top affordable sandal picks so far for the season. The yummy brown color of these caught my eye! Not your typical black or nude sandal - I love the chocolatey color! At this price point, though, I could see myself wanting more than one - they also come in black, a pretty off-white, and this fun light blue!
// 2. Steve Madden Skyler Tan -- $80
A fresh update to last year’s ever popular Travel sandal - just without the back strap/buckle so you can slide in and go! Also available in this cute clear version with stones which I love for summer!
// 3. Target Marilyn Toe Loop Slide Sandals -- $20
Love the tortoise color of these straps! Something about that pattern just screams summer to me.
// 4. Steve Madden Mayra Slide Sandal -- $70
Another great basic - lots of black sandals this season which is somewhat surprising! But it’s never a bad idea to have a good black pair for those summer nights where you don’t want to wear a heel but still want to look dressed up for the evening!
// 5. Target Emmy Studded Crossband Sandals -- $25
I tried these on in store this weekend and they are surprisingly cute on. I like how far back the straps come on the foot - just a unique twist on the basic slide!
// 6. Target Ama Quilted Slide Sandals -- $20
These are a little dupe for another SM style - Target does that often. I love the cream color, too! And at under $20 these are a no brainer especially with that extra 20% off right now.
// 7. Steve Madden Nixi Clear -- $60
Love the simplicity of these! The clear strap goes with everything and allows you to show off that tan :) Also available in nude and black! A great classic shape and closet staple.
// 8. Steve Madden Marina Natural Raffia-- $80
Okay I know it’s “Sunday Seven” but this was really hard to narrow down!! I know these won’t be the popular choice, but I am obsessed with this pair. Super unique, love the material, shape, + color. They would be perfect for a beach vacation but just in general so cute to spice up an otherwise basic summer shorts outfit. Definitely going on my wish list!
Here’s hoping the sun makes it’s official comeback soon - time to break out the self tanner, too! Happy Sunday!
